Frequently asked questions:
Can I apply for multiple positions?
Yes. You can apply for both an elected office and an appointed office. OR, you can apply for multiple appointed officer positions. However, you will need to complete the position specific proposal for each position you are applying for. You cannot apply for multiple elected officer positions.
If I win an elected office, can I still be considered for an appointed office?
No. Elected officers will be determined and announced first, and then appointed officer applications will be reviewed. If you applied for both an elected and an appointed office, and then win the elected officer position, your application will not be considered for an appointed office. If you do not win an elected office, your appointed officer application (if you submitted one) will be considered.
Do I need to complete a self evaluation for each position that I am applying for?
No. One self evaluation will suffice. You will be asked to state (when using the paper copy), or select (when using the online Google Form) what position or positions you are applying for.
Do I need different teacher evaluations and recommendations for each application?
No. You need at least two recommendations from different individuals, but the same recommendations and evaluations can be used for each application you submit. For example, if you applying for both an elected and appointed position, you only need to ask two different individuals to submit an evaluation and recommendation. They will be included with each of your applications. You do not need to ask someone to complete and evaluation and recommendation for each of your applications.
Can I use the same answers and responses for different applications?
Yes, for the most part. The short response questions are the same for all applications. The position specific proposal is different for each position (ASB Elected Officers, ASB Appointed Officers, and Class Presidents), so you will only need to complete a position specific proposal for any other applications you submit.
What if the people I ask do not complete or submit my recommendation on time?
It is your responsibility to check in with the people you asked for recommendations. Do not be pushy or unprofessional though. They are taking time out of their day to help you and your application. I will not reach out to them on your behalf. You may ask me if a recommendation has been submitted for your application and I can confirm submission. However, you will not be able to see your recommendations. They will be kept confidential.
Who will review my application?
Elected officer applications will be reviewed a panel of teachers and myself. Once elected officers have been elected and announced, they will review the appointed officer applications along with a panel of teachers and myself. All applications will remain anonymous. Your name will not appear on the application or recommendations.
